Let’s Launch’Em!
In 2024, we travel to the serene costal retreat of Hilton Head Island, SC, where the fourth edition of the Dixie Ryder Cup will commence. Twelve courageous individuals will be divided into two teams equally eager to claim the prestigious Dixie Ryder Cup. As the tension of competition builds, a grand display of victory and valor will unfold. Fate will weave a story of triumph and glory for one team and devastation and despair for the other.
Twelve Men. Two Teams. One Cup. Let the games begin!
Heron
Point
A modern masterpiece. Designed by the late, legendary course architect Pete Dye, this golf course challenges golfers with risk-reward long and short holes. The fairways move toward and away from hazards and Dye’s ubiquitous mounding and swales framing target areas make this a must-play course
Old South
Golf Links
Designed by Clyde Johnston, the course has several spectacular holes located on the intra-coastal waterway. It features all the exciting qualities that golf on Hilton Head is known for: island greens, towering live oaks and an abundance of wildlife.
Crescent Pointe Golf Club
Established in 2000, this 18-hole, par 71, "Pure Palmer” course is the area’s top-rated Arnold Palmer Signature Course. It sits on a spectacular piece of property that borders the Victoria Bluff Heritage Preserve.
the players
Zach Adams
Athens, GA
All-Time Record: 8-3-1
Zach calls Athens home and currently models his stroke after the guy working at your local deli – serving up slice after slice. While very competitive, he prefers to think of the course as his opponent instead of the guys he is playing against except during official DRC competition. Zach looks to bring an improving short game and experience in on-course management to his team even if Nathan finds more of his drives than he does.
Favorite Golf Shot: The Next One
Brandon Arndt
Troy, AL
All-Time Record: 4-6-2
Living in Troy, Brandon models his physique after Bryson but his game after Sir Charles. What you see is what you get with Brandon, until he takes his hat off and reveals his man bun. Brandon swings hard, and if it’s straight that day, his team will be hunting birdies.
Favorite Golf Accessory: His hat, which he leaves in the car, so he can show off his hair.
Barrett Black
Huntsville, AL
All-Time Record: 1-10-1
Barrett comes from Huntsville. With his old soul, Barrett models his game after Francis Ouimet; in fact, the only thing older than his soul is his set of clubs. Barrett may try to take a hole off every now and then but don’t let that fool you – he’s just resting up for the big finish.
Favorite Golf Ball: A Wilson ball in a package of ProV1’s.
Taylor Bragg
New Orleans, LA
All-Time Record: 2-2-0
Taylor resides in New Orleans but calls Thomasville, GA home. While he reads MRIs for a living, he loves reading a good book at home with his cats, Dobby and Hermione, curled up at his feet. A three year letterman at Wofford, Taylor is easily the best all-around athlete of the group – but he has only been playing golf for a couple years. Regardless of his handicap, Taylor is expected to be a leader on his team; even if he got moved from QB to Tight End his Junior year like this guy.
Dream Partner in a Golf Tournament Pro-Am: Stetson Bennett IV
John Childress
Charlotte, NC
All-Time Record: 4-4-0
John hangs his hat in Charlotte. Much like the European Ryder Cup team, no one really knows much about John or his game. While he remains mysterious, his beard game is in the spotlight in his official DRC roster picture. If you see John hit one in the drink, give him a minute since that was his only ball. John will look to play an Ace as the Wildcard of the trip.
Favorite Golf Club: One of those extender polls with the ball picker upper on the end.
Nathan Cornett
Nashville, TN
All-Time Record: 2-3-1
Hailing from Nashville, Nathan has a swing that has been compared to Bowser from Mario Golf. Nate loves his sleeves tight and his approach shots even tighter. If his drive goes into the woods give him a sec cause he’s not coming back until he has a sack of balls.
Favorite Golf Quote: I have a tip that can shave strokes off your game...it’s called an eraser. - Arnold Palmer
D.J. Leslie
Birmingham, AL
All-Time Record: 0-0-0
DJ is another resident of the Magic City. Standing a robust 6'7", the favorite part of DJ’s game is his long irons, but considering his handicap, we think he's referring to his custom set of clubs. When he is between gov't contracts, DJ moonlights as a hooker (of the golf ball); he is sure to bring an interesting look to the first tee.
Goal for 2024 Golf Season: Figure out how to use his alignment sticks on the range.
Daniel McAdams
Newnan, GA
All-Time Record: 2-2-0
Coming to us from Newnan, Georgia, Daniel looks to rival Jack Black in substitute ablilites. He rocks a little more salt and pepper these days, so Dan will use his background in Sports Medicine to stay fresh in order to keep up with the younger opponents while they try to keep up with him in the 12oz curl department. Channeling his inner 21-year-old frat boy, Daniel took a job at his local Muni and has seen his handicap index drop substantially. Kudos to Dan for making the effort on such short notice.
Favorite Golf Shot: The flop shot which he learned as a Collegiate Soccer player.
David Melton
Cullman, AL
All-Time Record: 3-8-1
David is from the rural east side of Cullman. David enjoys all things with two wheels and playing golf for free while at professional outings. Did you know David and Dustin Johnson are both 6’4”? But sadly, that’s where their similarities end. David leads the league in memes and rule book references to ensure his foes do not get an unfair advantage.
Favorite Golf Slang: Using the word Sticks to refer to his clubs.
Taylor Novara
Birmingham, AL
All-Time Record: 7-3-2
Taylor loves Jazz music so much that he decided to make his home for a few years in New Orleans. Now he resides in Birmingham. Taylor styles his swing after Adam Scott… well, now it is Rory… oh wait, it’s… let’s just go with the last golfer he watched on YouTube. While Taylor can be a little abbreviated off the tee, he more than makes up for it in solid iron play and mature shot selection. Taylor believes the most important thing is that all DRC players have a great time; just kidding, he wants to win at all costs.
Favorite Thing to Keep in His Pocket While Playing Golf: A Stopwatch.
Ray Rojas
Chicago, IL
All-Time Record: 2-2-0
Ray comes our way from the Windy City. Being a board-certified Ophthalmologist, he is sure to excel at green reading and hopefully will bring some promo codes for new shades to the boys. A surprisingly calm demeanor for someone with the last name Rojas, Ray hopes to bring a curious, not judgmental, approach to his teammates. Golf is an integral part of the lives of all DRC contestants but for Ray Ray Ray Ray Rojas… GOLF IS LIFE.
Favorite swing thought: Believe.
Jake Underwood
Miami, FL
All-Time Record: 2-1-1
Jake is currently living the dream in Miami, FL. The sophomore looks to push Brandon for best hair and Nate for loudest shades. Coupled with his distance off the tee and his last Facebook post back in 2015 about hockey, he puts out major Happy Gilmore vibes. Shoutout to Jake for being down for an adventure – the DRC is happy to have him.
Favorite Golf Club: Flingstick – we don’t know what it is, but I guess you can Google it.
